A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti, and leading governorship aspirant, Bisi Omoyeni has been described as an enigma of peace, integrity and a perfect gentleman that
politicians should emulate. This was revealed in Abuja over the weekend by
the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Abubakar Mustapha during the occasion of Omoyeni’s expression of interest and collection of the party’s governorship nomination forms for the upcoming election in Ekiti state.
According to a statement issued by Yemi Akinbode, the Media Director of BOFER- Bisi Omoyeni
Campaign Organization, Mustapha admonished Omoyeni for his impeccable character. In his words, “Omoyeni is a man of timber and caliber, we are happy to have a perfect gentleman like him; a man with high level of integrity and track records in the race for Ekiti governorship.
We have watched closely all of you the aspirants, we have no doubt in our minds that we would present a united front and conduct Ekiti election peacefully”. he concluded.
Speaking earlier, Omoyeni, a former Group Managing Director/CEO of Wema bank and the former deputy governor of Ekiti State, described Ekiti state as a “community under siege”.
He said, “Ekiti is one of the poorest states in Nigeria despite her huge natural resources and the most educated state in Nigeria. It is ironic that with all the human and material resources at our disposal, we have not been able to translate same to economic prosperity. Our youths are roaming the streets without jobs, people goes to bed without food to eat, yet the government in Ekiti state has continued to pay lip-service to the three core issues of life- sustenance; improved income for the people, employment for the youth and infrastructure that will boost industrial development. We cannot continue to suffer this type of jeopardy in the midst of plenty”. Omoyeni told the national officers of the party that he is going to rescue Ekiti and usher in a new era of economic growth and prosperity.
“I want to assure you that our government will restore hope and confidence of the external investors in
Ekiti. With that we are going to open our doors and bring in Foreign Direct Investment into agriculture and industrialization.
“We are in this race to give back to the society and inspire a new generation of Ekiti leaders. Having
fulfilled my personal ambition in life, I am ready and prepared to commit the remaining part of my life to the service of God, humanity and the society” he posited.
The ceremony was attended by scores of party leaders and supporters from Ekiti and other dignitaries who had thronged the Wadata house, PDP National secretariat in solidarity with the governorship aspirant.
Amongst them were, former Commissioner for Justice & Attorney General of Ekiti State (the Director General, BOFER) Obafemi Adewale, former Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Bayo Asana, former Chairman, Ikere local government council, Banji Aluko, former member Ekiti State House of Assembly, Bode Adewole, PDP Secretary, Ikere local Government chapter, Joshua Ojo.
