The South Africa senior women’s football team, Banyana Banyana will tomorrow tackle the reigning FIFA Women’s World Cup champions, the United States of America (USA) in an international friendly match in California.
The high profile tie which will hold at Levi Stadium, Santa Clara in California will be used by the USA Head Coach, Jill Ellis and her South African counterpart, Desire Ellis to test the preparedness of both countries for the global football fiesta in France this summer.
Already the South Africans have arrived in the USA and have been training hard in Santa Clara to perfect their strategies to battle the American team loaded with star players like captain Carli Lloyd; goalscorers Alex Morgan, Megan Rapione and Christen Press.
The USA and South Africa tie will be the first of the three Grade A pre-World Cup matches to be played by USA before flying to France. Team USA will host New Zealand on May 17 and will play a Send- off game against Mexico on May 26
