With few days to the start of the the U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Tanzania, football legend, Emmanuel Amunike has expressed his readiness for the continental football fiesta.
Speaking today (Friday) from his base in Tanzania, Amunike who is the current Head Coach of the Taifa Stars, Tanzania’s senior men national team said he is ready to do his best in the assignment given to him by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) during the competition.
The former African Best Footballer of the Year was recently appointed as a member of the Technical Study Group (TSG) by CAF for the forthcoming AFCON in Tanzania.
According to him “Yes, I am getting set to work for CAF. I was also in Niger Republic recently during AFCON U- 20competition as a TSG member and I am going to be part of the TSG again in Tanzania. I always try to put my best in whatever duty am doing”.
Amunike had also led Nigeria’s U- 17 team, Golden Eaglets to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup and later the Head coach of the U-20 (Flying Eagles) and Super Eagles. He later went on to coach a Sudanese clubside, Al Watani before landing the top job of the Head Coach of Tanzania.
The hugely talented ex- player and highly rated youthful football tactician was also invited to work for the world football governing body (FIFA) at the last World Cup final in Russia.
