Barely 48 hours after hoodlums burnt down Light house hotel belonging to Nassarawa All Progressives Congress (APC) Interim Chairman, Stanley Buba, a State High Court sitting in Lafia on Monday restrained the national leadership of the party from recognizing him as the state chairman of the party.
The high court presided over by Justice Aisha Ahmed in suit No NSD/LF/01/2014 also restrained the national leadership of party from inaugurating and constituting the state members of the interim executive.
The court granted the order following an exparte motion dated 10th January 2014 and filed on the 13th of same month.
The matter which was instituted by Nurudeen Omar, a former member of action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) alleged that the composition of the interim committee run contrary to the party’s constitution.
Omar who joined the state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura as defendant in the suit equally alleged that Stanley Buba and other members of the interim committee were not members of the legacy party as enshrine in article 7 ( iii ) of the party’s constitution.
Reacting on the matter counsel to the state (APC), Muhammed Elagu Usman said that court orders are meant to be obeyed but that the plaintiffs prayer before the court have been overtaken by event.
Earlier before approaching the court, Omar has petitioned the national headquarters of the party alleging lopsidedness in the composition of the state party interim executive.
He alleged that the composition of the interim committee was single handedly carried out by the state governor Tanko Al – Makura without the consultation of the stakeholders.
“I write to complain to your office and to our party the APC, against the lopsided composition of the state interim harmonization committee for Nasarawa state which was constituted single handedly by the governor”
He said that other parties involved in the merger namely ACN and ANPP are not fairly treated.
Nurudeen said that out of the 37 position in the interim executive ANPP and ACN were given 3 each while the rest was given to CPC.
He added that member ship of the interim committee is a complete distortion of the party, s constitution.
