With less than three months to the commencement of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women’s World Cup final in France, Cameroon’s preparations for the event is yet to start.
Our sources in Yaounde, capital of Cameroon have revealed that the senior women’s football team, the Indomitable Lionesses are yet to start any meaningful pre-tournament preparations as the team is not playing any friendly matches like the other two African representatives in the global football fiesta this summer.
According to one of the sources inside the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), the Lionesses are only expected to start playing friendlies from April as the federation is doing everything possible to prepare the team well for the big task ahead.
It was also discovered that the federation is working round the clock to process the naturalization papers of United States- born striker, Michaela Abam who is expected to replace ace strikers, Madeleine Ngono Mane and Gaelle Enganamouit who are not firing like before the 2015 World Cup final in Canada where Cameroon got to the last 16.
Meanwhile Cameroon’s newly appointed coach, Alain Djeumfa has since replacing Joseph Ndoko last December after he led his country to a third place finish in the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) has only worked with about 23 home based players for a short time while waiting for the approval for the pre-competition close camping.
