By Gracious Akujobi The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has certified Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano for its Champions league matches.
The stadium is home to Kano Pillars, Nigeria Premier league champions and flag bearers at the CAF Champions league.
Kano Pillars Media Officer, Idris Malikawa who disclosed this to Prompt News Online said CAF certified the stadium after inspection by CAF team.
“The CAF inspection team has visited our stadium, Sanni Abacha stadium for inspection ahead of the matches that will be played there.
“They said they are comfortable with the facilities at the stadium and the team will play all its matches at the stadium,” he said.
On the team’s preparation for their forthcoming game against their CAF champions’ league opponent Malikawa said, “The players and coaching crew are in high spirit to ensure that when they go to Congo they will give a good representation to Kano State and the rest of Nigeria.
“The players and coaches are sweating it out in training to ensure that when they get there it is not for jamboree but to represent Nigeria very well.
“Any moment from now we will go to collect our visa from the embassy of Congo for our trip which is in the next few days for our match which will be next Sunday February 9, in Kinshasa against AS Vita”.
He however appealed to Nigerians to pray for the four teams representing Nigeria in the continental championship.
