Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide on Friday tasked South East Governors to take a stand on the choice of Presidential candidate to support in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
The Igbo apex socio-cultural group made this known in a statement signed by the National President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to journalists in Abakaliki urged the governors to take stand to enable Ndigbo to be Prepared ahead of the 2019 election.
He noted that such move will help Ndigbo to avoid working across interest of the two Presidential candidates of President Buhari and Atiku Abubaka.
He said: “We applaud the Stand of Chief Arthur Eze for his fearless stand on President Buhari in 2019 Presidential Election. We want the Governors to declare their Stand to enable Ndigbo know who to support.
“Ndigbo across 36 states are watching keenly the romance and realignment within the Igbo political actors across party affiliations. We know the political survival as regards to winning elections in the Southeast in 2019.
“We Urge Our Southeast Governors to take bold steps and declare their Stand irrespective of whose interests will be affected among the top presidential candidates, considering the political survival of Ndigbo.
“Ohanaeze Youth council insists that the Governors should take the responsibility to chart a new course rather than allowing some forces to influence the outcome of igbo voting in 2019. We will stand with them to ensure proper things are done accordingly for the benefits of igbo Youths and even the agitators” he stated.
