Super Falcons Technical Adviser, Thomas Dennerby has expressed optimism that Nigeria will beat Equatorial Guinea in the last Group B tie at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Saturday to pick a semi final ticket of the ongoing 11th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).
Speaking exclusively to Prompt News Online from the team’s base in Cape Coast, Dennerby said that he expects his players to put up better performance than they have given in two earlier matches in the competition.
According to him, “I am not tensed up or worried ahead of the important match against E/Guinea on Saturday but we need to work hard to earn our victory.
“We will not make a mistake of assuming that they will be easy meat because of their big losses against Zambia and South Africa, no”.
The Swedish experienced coach posited that his team will have to put up a strong challenge in the last match against the E/Guineans to ensure that the semi final ticket is secured after 90 minutes in Cape Coast.
“We have our destiny in our hand and we shall not toy with it. I am glad I have let the players know about it and I believe they will remember what we have learnt in our training grounds and replicate it on Saturday “, Dennerby concluded.
Both the Nigeria versus E/Guinea and South Africa versus Zambian matches will come up in Cape Coast and Accra by 5pm simultaneously on Saturday.
The Group B winner will face Mali in Cape Coast while Runner up will take on Cameroon in Accra in the semi final ties.
