A Charity Organisation known has 9ja Food Fiesta has presented certificates to 1000 persons including women and people with disability on completion of a three month Culinary, Agriculture and ICT Trainings held in nine different CBT centres in the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Veldrome Centre of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja with dignitaries such as the FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, Minister for Youth Ayodele Olawande amongst others in attendance.
Speaking at the Charity event, the CEO of 9ja Food Fiesta, Mr. Muhammed Mustapha who is a FIFA agent said the idea was borrowed from the sports sector where talents are discovered and nurtured for their future benefits.
“I established this NGO with my partners with the dream to organize Capacity Training in all 36 states of the federation including the FCT for the less privileged. We started the NGO as Charity Organisation to train youth, women and people with disability in skills such as Culinary, ICT and Agriculture that has to do with Fisheries in 3 months in 9 centres across the FCT.
He said the other plan is to set up a database of the trainees for easy monitoring during and after graduation to see how they are doing.
“Whenever I go around and see a lot of youths roaming about and the challenges facing them, I always feel touched and this our own way of supporting the community and with this training I believe we have made a positive impact in their lives by creating new breadwinners in every household.
Muhammed said the enrolment which is free is in all nooks and crannies of FCT such as Zone 3, Karu, Bwari, Gwarimpa, Lugbe, Jabi, Maraba, Apo and Kubwa adding that this will give participants easy access free of transportation hassles.
“Our target is not just monetary, but to foster a sense of community spirit and encouraging everyone to be ambassador of change and ensure that the skill acquire are used after the certification of the first Batch of graduates,” he added.
Muhammed said the second Batch which will also captures 1000 persons including women and at least 200 people with disability will commence next week and end in December thus bring the total number of participants to 2000 which is the target for all the 36 states of the federation.
He disclosed that the skill acquisition train will after FCT move to Lagos and Kano states who are already yearning for it next year.
The 9ja Food Fiesta boss called on well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the programme in order to bridge the gap between those who have the means to give and those who are in need.
