The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and uncovered a hideout allegedly used for detaining abducted victims in a forest near Epinmi Akoko, located in Akoko South-East Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, Olayinka Alayande, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, the breakthrough followed credible intelligence received around 12:30 a.m. on June 18, 2025.
Members of the Epinmi Vigilante Group had apprehended a man identified as Arohunmolase Idowu, 25, of No. 14 Araromi Isalu Quarters, Epinmi Akoko.
He was reportedly found loitering suspiciously at an odd hour and failed to explain his movements satisfactorily.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Isua mobilized a combined team of police officers and operatives from other security agencies.
Based on information obtained from initial questioning, the team arrested a second suspect, 26-year-old Bada Tosin, also a resident of Epinmi Akoko.
The suspects later led investigators to a concealed building deep within the forest, believed to be used as their operational base.
Items recovered from the location include two locally-made dane guns, charms, cutlasses, axes, and other dangerous weapons.
A particularly chilling find was a deep pit inside the structure, suspected to have served as a holding cell for kidnapped victims.
