A 22-year-old man, Olajide Babatunde, was on Monday docked in a Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife, Osun for allegedly assaulting a doctor at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 11, 2023 around 10:30 am at the Accident and Emergency Unit, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant assaulted Dr Olom Eyare while she was performing her duty.
She said that the defendant also assaulted a security guard, Makinde Idowu, also at the OAUTHC.
The offence, she said, contravened sections: 437 and 351 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Sunday Olagbaju, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like amount.
Sarumi ordered that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction, must be landed owner and ensure submission of original documents with three recent passport photographs.
She adjourned the case until June 21, for hearing.(NAN)
