Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, says his administration will embark on decisive actions in 2025 that will ease the economic burdens on residents of the state.

Makinde said this in his New Year message issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

Makinde noted that his administration’s actions in the new year would also increase spending powers of all residents of the state.

The governor said he would remain focused and ensure that residents get value for the mandate given to him.

He emphasised that his administration was committed “to being less reactive and more proactive.

“2024 tested the resilience of Oyo state residents to the limit, as the state and its people faced so many difficult situations including economic hardship and tragedies in Ibadan.

“The nation struggled with economic challenges throughout 2024, with inflation rates reducing the people’s spending power and dragging more people into poverty.”

Makinde said that as a result of the economic difficulties, his government took further actions to move people from poverty to prosperity.

“The economic difficulties also spurred us to take further actions to pull our people out of poverty.

“We invested in making Oyo state an economic hub, making our environment more ideal for the private sector to thrive,” he said.

The governor, while calling on the people of the state to continue supporting his administration, assured them of a positive turnaround in the new year.

He, however, said that his administration would enforce the rule of law across different sectors, noting that more stringent measures would be taken against traffic offences in the state.(NAN)
