Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum insisted that the team has put behind them the bonus saga with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Super Falcons were rumoured to have threatened to boycott their 2023 World Cup opener with Canada over the bonus dispute with the NFF.
PROMPT NEWS reports that the players are owed backlog of bonuses by the NFF.
Waldrum however claimed his players are focused on Friday’s game against Canada at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.
“We will be there. All of that transpired before we came and I think the team, once we all arrived here, have just focused on Canada,” the American told Reuters after training on Wednesday.
“We met about it the first night we arrived and at that point we all just agreed not to continue to discuss it, not let it be out there and that we’re here to do a job.
“Let’s focus on that job and let the appropriate people handle it.”
Waldrum also praised his players for their commitment despite the distraction.
“I’ve been pleased about it because this very easily could be weighing and be a burden on the team, but I haven’t seen that they’ve allowed that to happen,” he added.
“They’ve handled everything very professionally.
“I don’t think you’ll get any of the players commenting at all during the tournament about it.”
