Ifeoma Onumonu has expressed her desire to lead the line for the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 29-year-old face a difficult fight for a starting berth in the star-studded forward line.
The Gotham FC striker will have the likes of Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Esther Okoronwko and Uchenna Kanu to contend with for a starting role
Onumonu however declared that she is ready for the fight.
“I’m incredibly excited,”she told ESPN.
“More than anything, it [the competition for a place] increases my focus.
“I’ve never been to a World Cup so this is going to be my first big international tournament. It is going to be difficult and I’m preparing for that.
“I don’t want to just go to the World Cup, I want to compete. I’m not there just to go and say I went to a World Cup, I am there to actually win.”
