The Borno Government says it has appropriated N269.6 billion for 2022 fiscal year to strengthen resilience of the people in the war-torn state.
Alhaji Adamu Lawan, Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, stated this at the budget breakdown on Thursday in Maiduguri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the budget tagged: “Budget of Hope for Post-Conflict Stability” has recurrent expenditure of N100 billion and capital expenditure of N169 billion.
Lawan said the education sector got the lion share of N38 billion, followed by Ministry of Finace with N29.4 billion while Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement got N26.5 billion and Health N24.5 billion, respectively.
“The policy direction of this administration is to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the state development plan and 2022 budget.
“The primary objective of revitalising the economy, restoring the dignity of labour, rekindling hope and strengthening resilience of our returnees informed the decision to name the 2022 budget: Budget of Hope for Post Conflict Stability,” he said.
According to him, the budget is designed to support and mobilise thousands of youths, transform agriculture, education, healthcare and social welfare services to reinvigorate the state’s human resources.
“The budget is also expected to restore economic growth through job creation as well as support Small and Medium Scale Entreprises (SMEs).
“Reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in road network, water and sanitation, electricity, housing et cetera,” he said. (NAN)
