Dr Yunusa Tanko, the Presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party(NCP), has promised to create more jobs and tackle insecurity bedeviling some parts of the country, if elected into office in 2019.
Tanko made the disclosure in Kano on Friday at the launching of the party’s campaign and presentation of flags to North-West governorship candidates of the party.
According to him, the major problem adversely affecting security of lives and property in the country is the breakdown of values in social needs of the people or lack of it, completely.
“Over 60 per cent of the country’s population are unemployed.
“We also have porous borders, with arms, illicit drugs and illegal immigrants flowing in almost unrestrained. All these are major security threats to Nigeria.
“While we cut down the level of unemployment, we will embark on training, retraining, funding, recruiting and equipping of security agencies to tackle insurgency and protect the sovereignty of the country,” he said.
Tanko also pledged to provide cottage industries tailored to the specific needs of the people and to create jobs for youths in order to cut down unemployment rate from two digits figure to at most 7 per cent.
He added that if elected, the government would encourage standardised mechanised farming with modern Agricultural equipment and seedling, while also reviewing the land law acts.
“We will also attract our doctors practicing abroad with better facilities and remuneration and we will equip all our hospitals; provide free medication for basic diseases, like malaria and typhoid.
“If elected also Nigerians will have single digit loans from banks to enable them to own a house.
“For civil servants, the loan will be deducted from their salaries for 10-15 years.
“Those in the private sector can also benefit from the same system,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NCP presidential candidate presented the party’s flags to its governorship candidates in Kaduna, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa and Zamfara states.
