A Grade 1 Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja, on Thursday, sentenced two teenagers to 12 months imprisonment for stealing cell phone.
The Judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, sentenced the convicts: Abdulsalam Balarabe, 19 and Usman Ibrahim, 20, after pleading guilty to the charges filed against them.
Kagarko, however, gave the convicts, who were charged with criminal conspiracy and theft, an option of N50,000 fine each.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Mr E.A. Nnamani, had earlier told the court that a team of police officers attached to Garki Police Station had, on March 25, arrested the convicts around Garki modern market.
Nnamani said that the convicts conspired together and stole a cell phone from an unidentified person.
He stated that during police investigation, the phone was recovered from them.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 96 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
