The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Hospital, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo while on an assessment tour of the dam stated that the step became necessary in order to improve water supply to the Hospital.
He said “the infrastructure in the Hospital are being rehabilitated and by the time this is completed, we don’t want to face another challenge of water shortage”.
According to Professor Otegbayo, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is renovating 5 blocks in the Hospital.
“This is like a revolution to our facilities. Everything is wearing a new look. The water reticulation is being done, the entire sewage system is being done.
“As a management, we also have to be proactive by working on our dam at Dandaru to ensure steady and regular water supply to the Hospital when the renovation going on now is completed,” PRO, Toye Akinrinlola, quoted teh CMD as saying.
The CMD noted that the experience the Hospital is currently having while the renovation is going on may not be palatable but stated that the aftermath will be pleasant to our patients.
He assured that desilting the dam will permanently lay to rest the issue of water shortage, while the environment of the Hospital will be cleaner and healthier.
Otegbayo said, “we are a responsible and reputable organisation. We have the patients’ comfort as our priority and we cannot afford to fail in the task”.
