The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 16-year-old boy, Solomon Ibiwoye, after he was caught carrying a pistol in the Ebute-Ero area.
Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin announced the arrest in a post on X on Sunday, praising the alertness of residents who discreetly informed the authorities.
According to Hundeyin, a search of Ibiwoye’s home led to the discovery of a locally made firearm and an unspent cartridge.
He noted that the arrest was a step toward making the streets safer and confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
Hundeyin emphasized the role of public vigilance in crime prevention, encouraging residents to report suspicious activities.

While the police have not yet revealed how the teenager obtained the weapon or whether he has ties to any criminal groups, Hundeyin assured that a thorough investigation is underway.
