Nigeria’s contingent to the 12th CAF Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in the early hours of Monday departed for Morocco, one week before the Super Falcons first group match against arch-rivals Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
The contingent which left the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos by 6:45 am aboard Royal Air Maroc for the 4 hours 30minutes flight of 3,183 km will land at Mohammed V International Airport , Casablanca by 11:20 am today.
They will then make a two hours trip by road to Rabat Center.
The delegation comprises of 25 players; Head Coach Randy Waldrum; his American female Assistant,Shirley and three Nigerian Assistants- Ann Chiejine, Justine Madugu and Auwal Makwalla as well as the medical crew and backroom staff made the trip.
A member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board Ms Aisha Falode who is designated as the leader of delegation did not however travel with the team.
The biggest African women’s football fiesta will kick off on July 2 and will end on July 23, 2022 as Nigeria squares up against
South Africa and newcomers-
Burundi and Botswana in Group C based in Rabat.
