Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are through to the final of the men’s football event of the 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco following a 5-4 penalty shootout win against Mali in their semi-final fixture on Tuesday.
Both teams failed to find the back of the net after 120 minutes of energy sapping football action.
The Flying Eagles missed the game’s best chance with captain of the side, Abubakar Ibrahim failing to convert a penalty after Success Makanjuola was fouled inside the box.
Paul Aigbogun’s boys converted all five penalties with the Malians missing their last kick.
It was sweet revenge for the Nigerian boys who lost 4-3 on penalties to same opponent early this year at the Africa U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger.
Nigeria last won football Gold at the 1973 games, which they hosted.
