Henceforth, top civil servants who are not adept at application of Information Technology (IT) skills will not be considered for the enviable position of Permanent Secretary, the Presidency has declared.
This hint was dropped by the Chief of Staff (COS) to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari on Thursday when he commissioned a 54-seater reconfigured multipurpose training center located at the State House, Abuja.
Gambari explained that IT is the current tool for effective service delivery at the highest level, and any staff that exhibits deficiency in the application of IT skills has no place in the current scheme of things, as the knowledge of it was the linchpin to adding excellence in performance.
“You cannot become Permanent Secretary anymore unless you are IT compliant”, Gambari insisted after he was led to the multimedia /video conferencing facility built with high speed internet connectivity facilitated by Galaxy Backbone to add value to service delivery in the State House.
The COS to the President also commissioned a refurbished hospital facility at the State House Clinic, Abuja.
