The crisis rocking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seems to be escalating as the warring factions continue to fire missiles at each other’s direction.
At a seminar jointly organized by PDP National woman Leader and National Youth Leader in Abuja, the party’s chairman, Bamanga Tukur, likened former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the seven aggrieved governors, Senators and House of Representatives members in the ‘New PDP’ as ‘prodigal sons’
However, he said even if they are welcome back to the party, they should be prepared to bear the consequences of being rebels at a point.
His words, “What is going on in the party is something of concern but it is also something that can happen in a family.
“You can quarrel but all should really be resolved within the house not outside. Anyone who has son or daughter who leaves we call them prodigal son or daughter. If they come we can say welcome back prodigal son, we will get you around and tell you, you are still accepted because at PDP you are always regarded as a son or daughter.
“But of course, if you are coming back you will also have the consequences for taking a wrong step. You have to reconnect and correct your wrong step. If you don’t, the PDP train will move without you.”
Also speaking, the National Woman Leader, Kema Chikwe, called on the participants to search their minds on whose side they belong, describing those who form new faction as unreasonable. “PDP deserves appreciation from Nigerians to be protected with passion”, she said.
