ABUJA – By Olusegun Lawrence The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof Ibrahim Garba, has confirmed that the embattled Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye, actually attended and graduated from the University.
Prof Garba, while appearing before the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges on Monday, told members of the committee that the Senator studied Geography.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Melaye graduated from the University in 2000, with a Third Class Degree in Geography.
An online news platform, SaharaReporters had recently alleged on its Twitter handle that Senator Melaye, who chairs the Committee on FCT, did not graduate from ABU.
The news platform had further alleged that Melaye bribed his way to obtain a transcript with which he gained post graduate admission into the University of Jos, Plateau state.
Melaye, had also replied via his twitter handle @Dinomelaye, denying the allegation.
He later addressed newsmen, offering to step aside as a member of the Ethics and Privileges Committee to ensure unbiased investigation.
