By Gracious Akujobi Former General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Sani Toro has expressed confidence in the ability of coach Stephen Keshi to do well at the World Cup in Brazil.
He spoke to Prompt News Online in Abuja, reiterating his support for Keshi and his technical crew.
“Keshi has done well for Nigerian football. Within the short period he came on board he was able to succeed.
“This is not the time we should be deviating we should support Keshi 100 percent if we want Nigeria to do well.
“I believe in the ability of Keshi, I believe in the ability of the members of the technical crew and I believe they are going to do well at the World Cup”
On Keshi’s insistence that the likes of Ike Uche and Osaze Odemwingie do not have a place in his team despite the fact that both plays are doing well in their various clubs, the Bauchi-born administrator had this to say:
“When I was in charge of football in this country, I did not interfere in the technical aspect of the of the technical crew, we always gave them free hand and support, Keshi should be given free hand to operate.
“But that notwithstanding, Keshi has the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to sort out these kind of issues.
“If there are two or three players that are doing well and they are fantastic but they feel they are indiscipline, I believe the technical committee should be able to iron out this problem.
“Call them to order, bring them together, resolve the issue in the interest of Nigeria football .That is what we need to do as a nation” he opined.
