By Gracious Akujobi The congress of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) will hold in February, chairperson of the league, Dilichukwu Onyedinma has said.
Dilichukwu told Prompt News that the delay in announcing the venue of the congress which will ratify the kick off date for the league is as a result of not having sponsor.
She however noted that the congress will be held in Abuja if no suitable sponsor shows up.
“The league starts in February but we are trying to organize our congress in the first week of February to usher in the league at the end of the month.
“Tentatively the congress will be held in Abuja except good offers comes from states then we can decide to hold it in any of the states.
“If no state is coming up with anything tangible, we will do it here in Abuja knowing that we did it ourselves” she said
She also said that during the Congress it will be decided which team will play Rivers Angels football club in what is termed “Champion of Champions cup” a curtain raiser to the league.
This is so because Rivers Angels are double champions, winning the league and Federation cup last season.
