As part of efforts to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of the forthcoming general elections, Nigerian Women leaders, stakeholders and representatives from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Professional Bodies, Faith Organisations, etc. from different parts of the country met in Abuja to brainstorm and strategise on the elections.
The meeting hosted by the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, after thorough deliberations concluded as follows:
• That Nigerian Women should remain united and work towards peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections across the country. To this end, Nigerian Women called on all Nigerians to shun violence of any type and embrace peace for the future and progress of our beloved country.
• The Nigerian Women called on the INEC to ensure that all eligible voters collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) on time to enable them vote at the general elections and that no eligible voter should be disenfranchised.
• Nigerian Women noted the numerous achievements of the President Jonathan’s Administration in particular and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in general and resolved to work harder at the grassroots to ensure that Nigerians vote massively for Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the Presidential election and all other PDP candidates in the other elections.
• Nigerian Women called on all Nigerians to intensify prayers and continue to seek the face of God to intervene and grant Nigeria peaceful and successful elections; Nigeria is the only country we have and we must not use our hands to destroy it.
• Nigerian Women called on relevant organizations and PDP Stakeholders to engage in massive voter education to ensure that voters understand the party symbol clearly to avoid incidents of voided votes.
• Nigerian Women acknowledged that no Administration has done well for Women more than the Jonathan – Sambo’s Administration since Nigeria came to being. Therefore, they called on all Nigerian Women to show their love and pay-back to President Jonathan and Vice President Sambo by voting massively for them in the presidential election on February 14, 2015.
