An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday, sentenced a 62-year-old woman, Labake Okeowo, to two months imprisonment for defrauding a cleric of N1.5 million.
Magistrate O.O.Fadairo, in her ruling, held that the prosecutor had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt that Okeowo was guilty of the two-count charge of fraud and theft preferred against her.
She gave the convict an option of N5,000 fine.
The magistrate also ordered the convict to pay back the sum of N1.5 million to the complainant, Ajose Oluwaseyi.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloy told the court that the convict committed the offence on Feb. 19, at Abule Iroko, Ota.

Adaraloye said that the convict obtained N1.5 million from Oluwaseyi, for the a plot of land to him.
The convict, the prosecutor said, converted the money to her personal use.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
