The Interim Management Committee for Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Tuesday assured that it would return the club to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after this season.
Chairman of the committee, Aminu Umar, gave this assurance immediately after the members’ inauguration in Bauchi.
He said the club’s relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) after the 2022/2023 season was very unfortunate.
“Now, we will not relent. We will fight hard in the 2023/2024 NNL competition for the club to get back to the NPFL in the following season.
“I want to assure the good people of Bauchi State and the state government that we are not going to relent. We will put in our best not to disappoint,” Umar said.
He promised that the club’s management team would work round the clock and seek pieces of advice and observations, as well as take note of criticism, for the club move on.
The committee chairman commended the state government for finding the members worthy of handling the club, saying “we will never disappoint the state”.
Meanwhile, in his remarks during the committee’s inauguration, the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Muhammad Salees, had urged the new management team to be steadfast.
He said this was necessary of the committee members while carrying out the assignment of restructuring the club.
“The state government has confidence in the management to bring the club to the forefront of the professional football league,” the commissioner said.
Speaking also during the committee’s inauguration, the acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Lawal Mohammed, urged the management team to fully utilise their wealth of experience.
”In addition to this, use your professionalism and expertise to bring the club out of the woods.
“The club’s supporters and the government are eager to see the club bounce back to its original position,” he said.(NAN). READ ALSO:
