The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) FCT Chairman’s Cup 2023 began on the 29th of September 2023 at the Area 3 Football Pitch in Abuja.
The football competition was kicked off by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike ably represented by the FCT Mandate Secretary, Area Council Services Secretariat, Mr Lawrence Bitrus Garki.
President and Founder Pace setter group of schools Barrister Kenneth Imasunagbon, The AMAC Local chairman Honourable Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, The FCT ALGON Chairman and Kwali local government chairman Honourable Danladi Chiya were all present.
The Program which was filled with funfair also had in attendance The Permanent secretary of the FCT Mr Olusade Adesola, The Managing Director of CTV Taxi Mr Ugo Kelvin, Chairman of FATA System Limited Chief Fatai Aliyu and Ambassador Ngozi of Buy Naija.
Sports enthusiast and promoter of grassroots football, Kenneth Imasunagbon called on Sports administrators to pay more attention to grassroots Sports activities. Immasugbon said maximum time must be be given to football within the local environment to take the teeming youth off the street.
Speaking to journalists at the match venue, Coordinator of the competition, Ambassador Moses Ebahor said staging the long-awaited ALGON Chairman’s Cup was a dream come true, adding that the organisers had already spotted some players with requisite skills to ply their trade outside the FCT.
In the curtain raiser match that preceeded the second game, AMAC FC beat Soccer Excel Academy 2-0 just as the second match between Kwali FC and Gwagwalada FC ended 3-0 in favour of Kwali FC. On Day 2 Kuje FC defeated Bwari FC 3-0. READ ALSO:

The competition features 10 teams spread across the 6 Area Councils in the FCT comprising Kwali, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, Bwari and AMAC and will conclude on the 10th of October 2023 with the closing ceremony and Final.
