Jamilu Collins pulled out of Super Eagles’ upcoming friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique to avoid sustaining another injury, according to Cardiff City manager, Erol Bulut.
The left-back missed almost the entire 2022/23 campaign with a cruciate ligament injury.
The 29-year-old returned to training this summer and has made nine league appearances for Cardiff City.
Collins was among the 25 players listed by Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro for the friendlies against the Greens and Mambas.
Boavista defender, Chidozie Awaziem has however been called up as his replacement.
Bulut has provided an insight into Collins fitness.
“Collins will get injured if he leaves for the international break,” Bulut told Wales Online.
“Neither side wants that. The club doesn’t need it, the national team doesn’t need it, we have to protect him.”
