Brentford manager Thomas Frank has revealed that Frank Onyeka did not eventually go on loan after a direct rival got injured.
Onyeka was set to join English Championship side Middlesbrough on loan for the rest of the season so as enjoy regular first-team football that he was no longer getting at Brentford.
However, an Achilles injury to Christian Norgaard scuttled the loan deal.
“Now the dynamic has changed with, in this case, Christian’s injury,” explained Brentford boss Frank.
We couldn’t take the risk so we needed to keep Frank.”
The Brentford manager also said the Super Eagles midfielder has been working hard in training.
“Frank has trained fantastically in all the games,” he said.
“You just need to be ready and to Frank’s credit, he’s done very well in training.”
