By: Gracious Akujobi Former Coach of Enyimba FC, Kadiri Ikhana, has warned the Super Eagles not to allow complacency set in when they welcome Ethiopia for the return of the world cup 2014 qualifiers in Calabar.
He noted that having lost the first leg 1-2 on their home soil in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopians would come to fight in Calabar.
Ikhana, who is now the coach of Nigerian Premier league side Nassarawa United however posited that the Super Eagles look good to qualify for the world cup in Brazil.
His words, “I must commend Keshi for packing a highly tactical squad that played according to instructions and Emmanuel Emenike for taking his chances with two clinical finishing that won us he game.
“They should just come back home and finish the job they started in Addis Ababa”
The 2003 African coach of the year said the Eagles showed class in the way they contained the sleeky Ethiopians and caught them on the counter attack to score the two goals that silenced the vociferous home crowd.
He continued “I think Nigeria is already in Brazil but we cannot afford to be complacent in the return leg in Calabar next month. The Eagles know how the Ethiopians play and they should be able to decode them and deliver the ticket to the Brazil world cup in 2014” he stated.
Asked if there was the need for the Super Eagles to beef up their midfield to stop the Ethiopians dominance in this area, the former Green Eagles defender said the Eagles should just play their normal game and let them worry about Eagles attack.
The 2003 African coach of the year urged the leadership of the NFF to continue its good work to ensure that World Cup ticket is delivered to Nigerians.
