Few hours to the crucial FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifiers return leg tie between Nigeria and Ghana at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has said that he can’t be caged.
This is even as the Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has assured Nigerians of nothing but outright victory over Black Stars when both teams clash in Abuja on Tuesday night in a winner takes all match.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Monday, Moses said no matter the tactics deployed by the opponents in the second leg tie, he will shine like million stars.
According to him his performance in the first leg tie at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as tactical, arguing that the game plan was to play for a draw away and finish the job in Abuja.
“I was not caged in the games against Tunisia or the recent game against Ghana. I can’t be caged on the pitch,” Moses Simon said.
According to him: “The Ghana game was at away and we were not that very offensive in our approach because we needed to defend to get the result we aimed for.
“And hopefully, Ghana will take the beaten in Abuja. We want to qualify for the World Cup and we will not disappoint our fans,” he concluded
Also speaking at the event Coach Eguavoen urged Nigerians to but the team’s performance in the first leg match in Kumasi behind them and come to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja in their numbers to cheer Super Eagles to victory.
Said he: “We are aware of the expectations of millions of Nigerian football fans and we are determined to make them happy at the end of the match”.
“We are therefore pleading with our fans to troop out en masse to support us to get over the line by defeating the Black Stars in our home”.
Asked about the situation with two key players who suffered knocks in Kumasi, he said he is waiting for the update from the medical team but assured there is no cause for alarm.
Said he: “I am expecting medical reports on Samuel Chukwueze and Calvin Bassey. By 9 pm today (Monday) the reports will be out and I will make a decision if they will be part of the game on Tuesday. But, we have enough personnel in the camp to get the job done. There is no cause for alarm”.
