The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Istifanus Musa has said that the Ministry, in partnership with the States and Local Governments and other stakeholders will continue to discharge her duties within the available financial resources.
The permanent Secretary said that the economic challenges facing the nation currently should encourage the management of the ministry to re-strategies toward achieving desired goals.
Mr. Musa made this known while speaking at the thanksgiving service, send-forth and awards night of Cross River Basin Development Authority in Calaber, Cross River State recently.
The Permanent Secretary who was represented by his Special Assistant Mr. Ehikhamenor Steven urged the River Basin Development Authorities to improve on their sources of revenue generation.
He said “our ministry expects the Management and Staff of the River Basin Development Authorities to improve your revenue generation; optimize the use of available assets and ensure judicious utilization of government funds, while we will continue to accord high premium to staff matters so that you can contribute your best”.
Speaking on the rationale behind the award, he said that the award would encourage staff to put on their best in the service which would later translate to maximum output.
He said “we believe in recognition as a very positive human developmental practice and we commend the Cross River Basin Development Authority for this gesture. We expect this event to
improve the family spirit among staff. It is our hope that the nomination of staff for the various awards have followed the due process of objective assessment and that only the deserving staff are rewarded”.
He called on the Managing Director to ensure that Civil Service rules are adhered to and the relevant ethics are imbibed by all.
“I congratulate you and I wish to remind you that to whom much is given, much is also expected. Please note that all eyes are on you to justify the confidence reposed on you, therefore, the award, should serve as a tonic for better performance now and in the future. To the remaining staff I wish to encourage you to put in your best to earn this reward next time around” , he added.
