10-man Nigeria defeated Niger Republic 1-0 in a Group B encounter at the WAFU B U-17 Championship on Sunday.
It was the Golden Eaglets first win of the competition following last Friday’s barren draw against Burkina Faso.
Rapha Adams scored the winning goal from a header on 31 minutes.
The former World champions were reduced to 10-men after Chibuike Okorie was sent off three minutes after the hour mark.
Manu Garba’s side held on despite effort by the Nigerien to level scores.
The Golden Eaglets now occupy second position on the Group B table with four points from two games.
Burkina Faso, who defeated Togo earlier in the day have the same number of points but have a better goal difference.
Niger Republic are third with three points.
The Golden Eaglets will face already eliminated Togo in their last group game on Wednesday.
