By Gracious Akujobi Female league defending champions Rivers Angels have begun preparation for the 2014/2015 league season with a bang.
The league champions have played three matches which they won two and drew one. They played a two legged test game against Standard Base football club an Aba based team playing in the Pro League.
In the first leg the match ended 4-1 with goals from Ebere Orji, Mabel Effiong, Grace Henry and Glory Iroka.
The return leg saw the Port-Harcourt girls beating their visitors 3-1 with goals from
The third test game is against a boys team which they won 2-2 with new girl Ijeoma Emenike scoring both goals.
After the three matches so far Head coach of the team Edwin Okon said they are trying to see if the new players can blend with the team before their transfer is confirmed. That is the objective of the friendly matches.
