By Gracious Akujobi Super Eagles winger Ejike Uzoenyi, has signed a fresh contract with Rangers International FC, Enugu.
This was disclosed to Prompt News Online by General Manager (GM) of the club, Paul Ozor.
We recall that Uzoenyi, the Most Valuable Player at the just concluded 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) new deal comes after his professional deal with South Africa clubs Orlando Pirates and Memolodi Sundowns, flopped.
Ozor who failed to disclose the details of the contract said the deal would run through the forthcoming 2013/2014 league season.
“We cannot disclose the details of the contract but he has signed for the new league season in line with the rules and regulations of the League Management Company (LMC).
“Uzoenyi is thankful to the club for having worked with him to this point, in terms of support.
“The other players are also happy with him because of the way he relates to them,” Ozor said.
He also said the former Rennes FC player had already joined the rest of his teammates in the team’s training camp in Oba, Nnewi.
The Rangers GM also commended the LMC for its approval of the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, as venue for Rangers FC home matches for the season.
According to him, “This is one of the best stadium in Nigeria but we have two others as alternative; the UNEC stadium and the Rangers camp football pitch”.
He noted that the postponement of the kick-off date for the new NPFL season from the weekend of February 21-23 to March 7 would give the clubs more time to prepare.
Ozor further pointed out that the postponement would also give the LMC time to carry out a thorough inspection of the stadia selected for the NPFL matches.
He urged the LMC to be firm in taking decisions in the forthcoming NPFL season to instill sanity in the league.
