University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) on Thursday discredited
reports that cultists stabbed a final year student to death on campus.
The university Spokesman, Sam Kpenu, said in a statement in Port Harcourt that the report was the handiwork of alarmists.
He said “the attention of management of UNIPORT has been drawn to a report that a final year student was stabbed to death by suspected cultists.
“The report claimed the killing occurred after the students’ final examination at the Faculty of Science.
“UNIPORT management wishes to state in clear terms that no such event happened in the university.
“The report is figment of the imagination of the writer, and as such, should be ignored by members of the public.”
Kpenu insisted that no cult attack was witnessed in the university throughout the period of the examination.
He added that “students wrote their final papers unmolested by any group.” (NAN)
