Flamingos head coach, Bankole Olowookere was full of excitement following his side’s victory over New Zealand.
Olowookere’s side started their campaign at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a 4-1 victory over the Ocean champions.
The Nigerian girls dominated the game from start to finish and truly deserved their win.
The Flamingos scored three goals in the first 28 minutes through Shakirat Moshood, Khadijat Adegoke and Faridat Abdulwahab.
Captain Taiwo Afolabi was also on target after the break.
“It’s a good first game for us. We are taking them as they come, so a good game for us, scoring four goals and only conceding one, so not bad for our first game,” Olowookere was quoted by FIFA.com.
The Flamingos will take on Ecuador in their next game on Saturday.
