The duo of Ngozi Okobi and Josephine Chukwunonye have signed professional contracts to ply their trade in the Swedish Damallsvenskan for the next one year.
Both important players of the Nigerian senior women’s football team have just penned a one-year contract each to play for the Swedish Premier club, Vittsjo based in a city far away from the industrial region of Helsingborg.
Prompt News can authoritatively reveal that Okobi and Chukwunonye will depart the shores of Nigeria next weekend for Sweden to start a new life in the Scandinavian country even as they are sure to develop their game under a very good coach of Vittsjo described by our Swedish sources as an experienced trainer.
With the arrival of Okobi and Chukwunonye, the number of the Nigerian stars in Sweden has risen to seven. Others are Sarah Michael, Nkiru Chukwudi, Rita Chikwelu and Faith Ikhidi as well as coach/player, Perpetua Nkwocha whom a team from British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) traveled all the way to the city of Skellefteå in the North part of Sweden to make the story about her new life situation of coach of Afghan Refugees Football team recently.
These Super Falcons foreign legion should be good news to the Amaju Melvin Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that is determined to resuscitate the fading fortunes of the senior team.
