Normal services have been restored at the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform, shut down following the fire incident which engulfed part of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), in Abuja on Wednesday.
The fire which broke out on the fourth floor of the Treasury House, was said to have been successfully brought under control and put off through the combined efforts of various fire fighters in Abuja.
According to a statement last night by the OAGF Director of Information, Press & Public Relations, Mr Henshaw Ogubike, the fire had affected the outdoor panels of the cooling system of the Server, following which, “the Server automatically shut itself down”.
The statement explained that “repair work was immediately carried out on the affected equipment and at 12:30pm on Thursday, 9th April 2020, the Server was successfully restarted”.
The statement further stated that “presently, service has been restored and payments can be made and received through the GIFMIS Platform”.
“GIFMIS is an IT based system for budget management and accounting that is meant to improve Public Expenditure Management processes, enhance greater accountability and transparency across Ministries and Agencies”, it added.
