Barely 48 hours after an Associated Airlines plane crashed few minutes after takeoff from the Muritala International Airport, Lagos killing about 16 people, tragedy was averted in Sokoto this weekend when a Kabo Air plane made emergency landing.
The Saudi Arabia-bound Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet was carrying about 400 prospective pilgrims to the Holy Land to perform this year’s Hajj.
The tyres of the aircraft were said to have exploded shortly after takeoff from Aminu Kano International Airport, compelling it to make emergency landing at the nearby Sir Abubakar 111 International Airport, Sokoto.
