Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has picked three more persons to join his cabinet.
This is even as Tinubu has in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Tuesday’s plenary session, formally requested the Senate to confirm three individuals as ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nominees for ministerial positions include Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Balarabe Abbas and Olawale Olawande.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this known during resumption of plenary by lawmakers on Tuesday.
Abbas, who is among the nominees, is a ministerial replacement for the former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, whose confirmation was stepped down by the Senate due to alleged security report.
The other nominees, Ibrahaim and Olawale, were earlier nominated as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths respectively by Tinubu.
The letter reads:
“In compliance with the provisions of section 147, sub section 2 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria1999 as amended.
“I am pleased to forward to the Senate three nominees for confirmation of Senate.
“Dr Jamila Biu Ibrahim, Balarabe Abass Lawal, and Ayodele Olawale for confirmation as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept the Distinguished Senate President and Distinguished Senators, the usual assurances of my highest regards.”
