President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially announced the much-talked about removal of petrol subsidy even as he has assured that the country’s security architecture will be remodelled to stem the tide of Insecurity in the land.
Tinubu who made this public in his lengthy Inaugural Speech at Eagle Square, Abuja said that there is no provision for the continued payment on petrol subsidy in the 2023 National Budget already signed into law by ex- President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him, the fuel subsidy regime favours only the rich with the poor holding the short end of the stick hence it has to be done away with for good.
The former governor of Lagos state however assured that his administration will rejig the security architecture of Nigeria to tackle the festering insecurity head on, adding that security shall be top of his administration.
“We shall remodel our security architecture. We shall reform both our security architecture and the way we are tackling this problem”.
Speaking further he said “in our administration, women and youths will feature actively while on the economy, we target a digital economy”.
