There is a tight security in Katsina State as residents trooped out to polling units for Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that military and armed policemen were at entry and exit points in Katsina, the state capital, as well as all the local government headquarters.
NAN also observed that the security personnel were also on patrol across the towns to curtail possible breakdown of law and order.
There is also total restriction of movement of vehicles particularly between one local government to another.
NAN further reports that voters turnout was huge in Katsina metropolis, Batagarawa, Charanchi and Kankia local government areas.
In all the places visited by NAN correspondent, INEC staff and election materials arrived at most polling units around 7am.
As the election commenced, voters were also seen conducting themselves in an orderly manner, with policemen keeping vigil at the polling units
