By Gracious Akujobi President of Wrestling Federation of Nigeria, Daniel Igali has stated that the forthcoming Africa Championships billed to take place in Morocco from March 26-30, will not be the only selection process to pick Wrestlers for the Commonwealth games.
“The Africa Championships will help in the selection process for the Commonwealth games but it will not be the final determinant, “Igali told Prompt News Online.
He said, “By May, we would have trails specifically for the games. So, whether you are the African champion coming from Morocco, if you don’t win your trials then you will not go to Commonwealth games”.
Igali, a gold winning Olympian said the Africa championship will act as a primer to preparing for the Commonwealth games adding that he was looking beyond the Commonwealth games as his priority is the Olympics.
His words, “For me in all frankness Commonwealth games is okay but the priority and focus is the Olympics. The Commonwealth games will just act as a spring board for the Olympics”.
