The Reason for the Season is Compassion
In The Name Of Allah Most Compassionate Ever Merciful
Peace and Salutation Be Upon The Noble Prophet (s.a.w) – Amin.
In the life of a Muslim, everything he Celebrates or Commemorates must of necessity be sensible, it must have spiritual as well as moral content, Social relevance and Universal. The life of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s), Prophet Ishmael(a.s) and Hajara the wife of Ibrahim(a.s) have all the ingredients of spirituality, morality, social and universal appeal.
The Request of Ibrahim (a.s) when praying for a child:
100. “My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous.”
Answer to prayer of Ibrahim (a.s): Allah says:
101. “So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy”.
The test case:
102. “And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: “O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look, what do you think!” He said: “O my father! Do that which you are Commanded, Insha Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).”
A 13 year old boy certainly knows how to run away
Ishmael did not run away
The Mother of Ishmael certainly can ask her Son to disobey the father
She did not
Ibrahim can excuse himself that he is having a ‘mere’ dream!
He is not an alcoholic or drug taker, he is not under any influence
In The Compassionateness of Allah:
103. “Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);”
104. “And We called out to him: “O Abraham!”
105. “You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!” Verily! Thus do We reward the (good-doers
Great Recognition and Acknowledgment of Faith
106. “Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial”
107. “And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice”
This Occasion (The Big Sallah) is worthy Commemorating:
108. “And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times”.
109. “Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!”
The Justice and Fairness of Allah:
110. “Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinoon (good-doers)”.
111. “Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves”. ( inau min Ibaadina Muuminina)
The Importance of this Day, and this Month: The Prophet said:
” Among the days there is no better days to engage in the sole worship of Allah than in this month of Dul-Hijjah, to observe a fast in any of these days is equivalent to fasting in a whole year, to now actively worship in any of these ten days is given the reward equivalent to witnessing Night of Majesty. Tirimidhi Narate this.
Fasting on the Day of Arafa expiate a minor sins of two years, the previous and the past! – Muslim Narrate it.
Social Lesson of the Family of Ibrahim
The social relevance is that if your wife is “one kind” your child also will be “one kind”. If the father is a drunkard, liar, hypocritical, the wife too will not believe him, will not obey him and the family will not unite.
If the wife pure, the child is calm, if the father is responsible, the wife is obedient and the family is intact.
Same apply to leadership of all cadre.
Credible election produces credible leadership and obedient follower ship
Rigged election produces rogue leadership and did obedient follower ship
You reap what you sow, think about it. Credibility is key!!!
However, for the world in general and the Muslim in particular, it is another Celebration worth celebrating no doubt.
Prophet don’t lie or deceive:
2:124. And (remember) when the Lord (i.e Allah) of Ibrahim (Abraham) ( tried him with (certain) Commands, which he fulfilled. He (Allah) said (to him) – Ibrahim, a.s), “Verily, I am going to make you a leader (i.eProphet) of mankind.”
Ibrahim said, “And of my offspring (to make leaders).” (Allah) said, “My Covenant (Prophethood, etc.) includes not polytheists and wrong-doers.”
As You Celebrate You should Reflect on this Command:
5:92. And obey Allah(s.w.t) and the Messenger (Muhammad [s.a.w]), and beware (of even coming near to drinking or gambling or, etc.) and fear Allah(s.w.t). Then if you turn away, you should know that it is Our Messengers duty to convey (the Message) in the clearest way.
Safety lies in Obedience to Allah:
5:105. O you who believe! Take care of yourselves, (do righteous deeds, fear Allah (s.w.t) much; (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah(s.w.t) much; (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)).
Reward for obeying Allah: 5:105 continue-…
If you follow the right guidance and enjoin what is right (Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbid what is wrong – (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden) – no hurt can come to you from those who are in error. The return of you all is to Allah(s.w.t), then He(s.w.t) will inform you about (all) that which you used to do.
Look around You and see the effect of disobedience:
Arrogance is the height of disobedience
Idolatry or human worship is disobedience
Killings, robbery, kidnapping, rigging are all symptom of disobedience to Allah.
Effect of disobedience:
6:11. Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Travel in the land and see what was the end of those who rejected truth.”
If you want to destroy humanity
Mercy belong to Aalh:
12. Say (O Muhammad SAW): “To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?” Say: “To Allah. He has prescribed Mercy for Himself. Indeed He will gather you together on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Those who destroy themselves will not believe (in Allah as being the only Ilah (God), and Muhammad SAW as being one of His Messengers, and in Resurrection, etc.).
Out of His mercy:
He put affection between husband and wife
He made them have a child
He preserve the child for them
He therefore want you to worship and obey Him alone
13. And to Him belongs whatsoever exists in the Night and the Day, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
The Slaughtering of Ram is The Best Deed Ever this Season: Narrated Ibn Abbas:
The Prophet said, ‘No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijja).’
Then some companions of the Prophet said, ‘Not even Jihad?’
He replied, ‘Not even Jihad, except that of a man who does it by putting himself and his property in danger (for Allah’s sake) and does not return with any of those things.’
(Vol. 2, Book 15, Number 86 of Bukhari)
Slaughter a Ram if you have means please!:
6:15. Say: “I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the torment of a Mighty Day.”
16. “Who is averted from (such a torment) on that Day, (Allah) has surely been Merciful to him. And that would be the obvious success”.
Remember that:
17.”And if Allah(s.w.t) touches you with harm, none can remove it but He(s.w.t), and if He(s.w.t) touches you with good, then He(s.w.t) is Able to do all things”.
Allah(s.w.t) has power over everything:
18. And He(s.w.t) is the Irresistible, above His slaves, and He(s.w.t) is the All-Wise, WellAcquainted with all things.
19. “Say (O Muhammad SAW): “What thing is the most great in witness?” Say: “Allah (the Most Great!) is Witness between me and you; this Quran has been revealed to me that I may therewith warn you and whomsoever it may reach. Can you verily bear witness that besides Allah there are other aliha (gods)?” Say “I bear no (such) witness!” Say: “But in truth He (Allah) is the only one Ilah (God). And truly I am innocent of what you join in worship with Him(s.w.t).”
The essence of life is to be aware that the season of Compassion is here in which the greatest good is seeking the face of Allah by remembering Him, worshipping Him, obeying Him and seeking His forgiveness and preserving life because if you safe a life you are rewarded as if you have saved the entire human race. That is the reason for the Season.
