The Grant Knight of the Knights of St Mulumba (KSM), Wuse Sub Council, Abuja, Sir Greg Azubuike has frowned at the misconceptions surrounding the Catholic Knighthood, a situation which culminated in certain people tagging the Order a “secret society”.
Sir Azubuike, a lawyer who expressed his displeasure during an exclusive interview with Prompt News Online in Abuja at the weekend said this situation motivated him to write a book, The Quintessential Knight which was presented to the public in Abuja recently.
According to him, “there is this misconception about what Knighthood is and what Knights do. I saw a knowledge gap as no author in Nigeria has written on the subject. I decided to pen this piece to fill that knowledge gap”.
On how the idea to write the book came to him, Azubuike, a lawyer and Coordinator of FCT NHIS, said, “It started just as random thoughts. When I took it to the publisher, he screamed that I have a very rich manuscript, even though it was ‘raw’. His enthusiasm with the script galvanised me. Then, the crown on the jewel was when the Supreme Knight (Head of the KSM in Nigeria), read it and was so impressed that he wrote the wonderful Preface to the book”.
He further stated, “it is my belief that anyone who reads the book will have a better understanding of what Knighthood is about, and what Knights actually do. The book is also for the young Knights to learn how to live out their calling as Knights.
Ultimate message in the book is that we should always follow the Truth, and once we do that, God will surely lead us beside “Still Water”.
Preface of the 103-page book which has nine Chapters was written by the Supreme Knight of the Order of the Knights of St Mulumba Nigeria, Sir Diamond Ovueraye, a former top executive of Shell Oil company.
Personalities from all walks of life attended the public presentation of the book, including the Auxilliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Most Rev Anselm Umoren; former Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu; Executive Secretary, NHIS, Prof Mohammed Nasir Sambo; former Surveyor General of the Federation, Sir APC Njepuome; and a former Military Administrator of Cross Rivers State, AVM Gregory Agboneni.
Others were, Dr. Ahmed Dan Fulani, Executive Secretary, FHIS; Dr. Mathew Ashikeni, DG FCT PHCDA; Sir Charles Omalu, former Director of Finance, Aso Villa; Sir Mike Aule, Abuja Metro GK, as well as Sir Frank Odafen Metro Deputy GK, who was Chairman of the occasion.
