Nigerian military on Sunday announced that an attack by suicide bombers operating in a pickup vehicle laden with IEDs was foiled in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
A statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, says the target of the attack was the “A” Division Police Command situated by the main round about in the heart of the town.
He said the attempt was however foiled as the culprit was arrested by the police personnel on duty.
Olukolade said a total of six already constructed turbine containers loaded with explosive as well as 20 litters of petrol and 11 bags of beans chaff have been recovered from the scene.
No casualty was recorded, while all the recovered items are in the custody of the Joint Task Force in the state.
The Police anti bomb squad has safely detonated the explosive.
